AGE stands for Active Gerontology Education

This a very brief overview of Virtual AGE (vAGE), a HRSA supported project (grant # D37HP00853) designed to assist instructors in the preparation of allied health professionals with interdisciplinary team competencies and other aging related content.

Because the health problems of elderly persons are complex and chronic, the interdisciplinary team is considered the basic unit of geriatric care (Zeiss & Steffen, 1996). We believe the interests of elderly persons can be served more effectively by educating students in the best practices of interdisciplinary teams. This involves teaching students to collaborate, engage in mutual problem solving, share responsibilities, and resolve and renegotiate roles and conflicts (Weinreich, 2004).
